Writing the Requiem – excerpt from Fifty Miles with my Dad
Here I answer a few questions in a two-minute interview on the eve of the première performance:
Temple Speech Room, Rugby School
Natalie Houlston, soprano solo, singing the Benedictus from the Requiem with the Rugby School Choral Society and Bliss Sinfonia on Remembrance Sunday 2016 – Mr Richard Tanner, Director of Music, conducting and Phoebe Mathers, a close friend from Suffolk, singing next to me in the choir
For the school choir tour of the USA in 2017 I prepared a scaled-down arrangement of the Benedictus, for soprano solo and choir with organ and oboe accompaniment.
Fifty Miles with my Dad, published by Sarnia House in April 2020, is available in bookshops (subject to coronavirus), with net proceeds in aid of the ‘Fifty Miles with my Dad’ Fund at Suffolk Community Foundation.*
*The ‘Fifty Miles with my Dad’ Fund is an endowment managed by Suffolk Community Foundation and established in 2009 by the fundraising walk described in the book of the same name. Grants are made from the income to charities and community groups supporting those with disability, the infirm and the vulnerable.
